This year, our annual commemoration ceremony of William Shakespeare also features our second event in the ‘Great Loves’ series, focusing on the iconic love story of Romeo and Juliet.
On Sunday April 21st, you are invited to join us at Mayflower Bookshop at 16.00 for our annual walk and commemoration of Shakespeare, when Leo van Zanen will lead the walk to wall poem sonnet 30, at the corner of Houtstraat and Rapenburg. At this venue, we will honour the bard with a small bouquet and the reading of his poem in English (by Freek Bouricius) and Dutch (by Leo van Zanen).
Back in Mayflower Bookshop, Dr. Wim Tigges will give a short introduction to the timeless love story of Romeo and Juliet, after which the Mayflower Theatre Company will perform two short scenes (under the direction of house director Sigrid de Zwart).
So don’t miss the most romantic of all love stories and find out all you ever wanted to know about Romeo and Juliet!
