On the last Sunday afternoon in June, the fourth Great Loves Lecture took place at Mayflower Bookshop. This month literary scholar Wim Tigges was our guest-lecturer, giving an inspiring talk on the British classic Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë’s only novel.

Before going on to Wuthering Heights and the tragic love between Cathy and Heathcliffe, Tigges sketched the world the Brontë sisters Emily, Charlotte, Anne and their brother Branwell lived in, writing stories, poems and plays from a young age onwards.

The afternoon ended with a dramatic reading from a chapter from the novel, performed by the Mayflower Theatre Company.
