Traditionally, Mayflower Bookshop hosts a commemoration ceremony at wall poem Sonnet 30 at the corner of Rapenburg/ Houtstraat, with Leo van Zanen holding a short talk on the poem. The ceremony was attented by a crowd of people. Back in a packed Mayflower Bookshop, this ceremony was followed by a lecture by Dr. Wim Tigges on children in Shakespeare’s work, as the third event in our series ‘Children’s classics’. The event was concluded by the performance of a short scene from ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ by the Mayflower Theatre Company, featuring Tony Foster, Niek Hoogwout, Maria Menheere and Freek Bouricius under direction of house director Sigrid de Zwart.
A truly Shakespearean afternoon!
